ALL CHURCH CAR WASH AND WORK DAY

Saturday, May 17, 2008.  Bring your family and your car.  There are lots of things for everyone to do.  Brown bag your lunch, we will provide the drinks.  We'll be working from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, come and stay as long as you can.

CHURCH UNITY POTLUCK

Join us on Sunday, May 18, immediately following church as we gather for a potluck lunch to help us unite as a church family.  Please stop by the HUB and sign up to bring a favorite dish to share.  Many people are needed to help with set up, etc.

NEW SERVICE TIME

We have switched to a single service on Sundays to enable us to Worship together and draw closer as a Congregation.  Service begins at 9:30 am.

HOMEBUILDERS BIBLE STUDY

Discover Biblical principles to apply in your marriage to become closer to your mate while building friendships with other couples.  A new session began on May 1, and meets at 6:30 pm on Thursdays.  Childcare is available.  Please contact the church office for more information.

We are working on a new directory.  If you have moved recently or changed your phone, please let us know in the church office.

RECYCLING

White drums are out and ready for members to drop off CRV cans and bottles to help raise much needed funds for our church.  Any questions, please call the church office.

MEN'S PRAYER GROUP

Men of Sylvan, God is calling us to prayer.  Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in Modular B.  Join us to lift our congregation in prayer.  Contact the church office for more information.

MEN'S RETREAT

The men's retreat will be held at Zephyr Point in Lake Tahoe, June 6-8.  Dean Crist, from First Christian Church in Tillamook, OR, former Associate Pastor of Sylvan Oaks, will be our guest speaker.  The theme for the retreat is "Wholly - Holy Devoted Living".  The cost is $145.  Information and registration forms are available at the HUB.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

A new Women's Bible Study is began on April 10.  This 10 week study will be on the book of Proverbs and is being led by Sylvia Madrid.  Class meets from 6:30 - 8:00 pm on Thursdays, in Modular C.  Childcare is available.  Please sign up at the HUB or call the church office for more information.

SYLVAN FAMILY CAMP

Looking for a fun way to spend time with your family?  Join us for Sylvan Family Camp at Lake Francis Resort. 

July 28 - August 2.  Come for the whole week or stay just a few days in the beautiful Sierra foothills.  There are a variety of campsite types and activities available.  Pick up a flyer at the HUB for more information.

JUNIOR CAMP

June 8-13, 2008.  Mark this date.  For currrent 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Make plans now to go to camp.  Cost is $195 and registration forms are available at the HUB, in the elementary classes, and from the church office.  Don't miss out on our only camp fundraiser:  the Bike-a-thon will be held on April 26, and is a great way to pay for camp.  Kids get pledges from family and friends and then they ride 18 miles on the American River Bike Trail.  We ride as a group, and YES, your child can do it!  Pledge are now available in the classes or from the church office.  Contact Lyn Vaught, Children's Ministry Director, for questions and more information (726-2100).

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Let Jesus help you recover from your hurts, habits and hang ups!  For more information, call the church office or attend the Friday night worship service.

FAMILY NEWS

We have a weekly prayer sheet available at the HUB, pick one up and keep your borthers and sisters in prayer.

 We have several "Sylvan Family Needs".  Please contact the church office if you can provide rides to church on Sunday mornings or are available during the week for visiting or providing rides to doctor appointments.

With the reduction of staff hours, we will have a need for several people who can donate tehir time to help with the cleaning and maintenance of the facility.    Please see Cary Ware in the church office if you can help.

MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month for fellowship and support.  Childcare is provided and moms are uplifted.  For more information email at soccmops@yahoo.com or call the church office at 726-2100.

Weekly Gatherings :

Celebrate Recovery:  Meet on Friday Evenings for a Worship Service.  This is a powerful program that has helped thousands of individuals overcome addiction(s) through the wisdom of God's word and the power of the Holy Spirit.  If you would like to be a part of this Christ-centered recovery program, call the church office for more information.

Senior's Meetings: the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6pm for a potluck and study in the Purple Room.

Senior High Students: meet weekly (Wednesdays) from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Family LIfe Center.

Junior High Students: (7th & 8th grades) meet weekly (Thursdays) from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Family Life Center.

MOPS:  Mothers of Preschoolers meet here twice a month during the school season.  Call the church office for sign-up information.
